Secure Your Internet Identity
Today, most people rely on the Internet to communicate and search for information and services.  In order to be more competitive, set yourself apart from others, and raise your Internet visibility, it is essential that you capture the attention of your prospects.  Interestingly, many people do not even feature their own domain name in their e-mails or websites, which is not the best marketing technique and it can cost them a great deal.

The first step in harnessing the power of the Internet is to have your own Domain Name for your e-mail addresses and website. This domain name is your Identity on the Internet and, once registered, it is your property. It can be your company name, family name, slogan or any other combination; whatever you chose that makes you unique on the Internet.

When you see e-mail addresses and website URLs that end in yahoo.com, aol.com, sbcglobal.net, earthlink.net or other general entities, who do you think is receiving the promotion?  This almost generic approach to marketing is good for the service providers, but does little for you.

Also, without your own, customized domain name, consider these points:
  • Would people know if you even have a website or contact/information page? No!
  • Would you be able to keep your e-mail address if:
    • The service provider goes out of business? No!
    • You wanted to leave your service provider for a better deal/service? No!
  • Do you have the time and money to re-market your brand, if you lost your domain name because your service provider was bought out or stopped service? No!
  • Do you brand and set yourself apart? No!

One Final Thought:
Would you invest as little as 55 cents a day to secure your online identity with your own domain and hosting for your e-mail accounts website and blog?  Depending on your service provider and service quality, you can easily afford to tell the world how it can reach you on the Internet.  And most providers don’t even charge a setup fee.

This is why I am using aviel@siteme.com instead of a free account like aviel@gmail.com. With my own domain name, I show professionalism, provide peace of mind and, most of all, I know I will never lose my e-mail address and the way prospects contact me.  The solution: Use a domain name that belongs to you.
